Representatives of Ukraine and Indonesia discussed the liberalization of bilateral trade
27.07.2022 | 13:03Liberalization of trade between Ukraine and Indonesia, development of cooperation in the scientific and technical sphere and at the business level, as well as the participation of the Indonesian party in the restoration of our country – these and other issues were discussed during the Fourth Meeting of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Indonesian Commission for Economic and Technical Cooperation. This is a landmark event because it is the first meeting of this level that took place after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by russia.
The co-chairs of the commission were Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy & Trade Representative of Ukraine, and I Gede Ngurah Swajaya, Director General for American and European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
The parties discussed the current situation in both countries during the Plenary Session. Great attention was paid to Ukraine’s steps in maintaining food security in the world.
The Government of Ukraine, together with its European partners, is doing everything possible to ensure new logistical ways of supplying agricultural products to the world market. This issue is of great interest to the Indonesian party because only last year, Indonesia imported Ukrainian grain worth almost 800 million US dollars. Given the need to overcome barriers to trade between Ukraine and Indonesia, the Ukrainian party made a presentation of impact assessment of trade liberalization between the two countries.
“We are interested in removing all obstacles in bilateral trade between Ukraine and Indonesia and achieving the maximum level of liberalization by entering into a Preferential Trade Agreement between our countries,” Taras Kachka emphasized.
The parties also discussed the key elements of the Ukraine Recovery and Development Plan, the draft of which was presented by the Prime Minister of Ukraine at the International Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano (Switzerland). Ukraine will welcome the participation of the Indonesian Government and business in the restoration of healthcare infrastructure in Chernihiv Oblast.
During the meeting, the parties also touched on important social issues in the context of the need for further development of cooperation in the scientific, technical and educational spheres.
The issue of expanding cooperation at the business level was also considered. So, a business forum of representatives of the business circles in Ukraine and Indonesia will be held online on 3 August 2022.
According to the results of the event, a protocol decision was signed, containing the main agreements of the parties reached during the meeting.

Ukraine and Denmark have signed the Memorandum of Understanding on long-term cooperation and reconstruction of Ukraine. Ukraine Investment Framework Steering Board approves terms of operation of the investment component of the Ukraine Facility
The first meeting of the Ukraine Investment Framework (UIF) Steering Board, at which the rules of procedure and Strategic Guidelines for the investment component of the EU’s Ukraine Facility programme were approved, has taken place.
