The Ministry of Economy calls on businesses in the de-occupied territories to apply for grants for processing enterprises

A wave of applications for grants for processing plants is currently underway. The first results will be announced in about three weeks. The Ministry of Economy is encouraging entrepreneurs to apply for grants to develop processing plants and create jobs in the de-occupied territories. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy Nadiia Bihun during a live broadcast of the National Telethon.

"Businesses in the processing sector can now receive a grant of up to UAH 8 million from the state, covering 80% of project costs. The Government has focused this programme specifically on the de-occupied territories and areas of hostilities. To be eligible for funding, a company must create up to 25 jobs. Depending on the size of the grant, the number of jobs can be smaller," said Nadiia Bihun.

She added that the de-occupied territories had suffered greatly in terms of infrastructure and human capital, but people were gradually returning. The Government's programme is aimed at encouraging people to return, giving them the opportunity to find jobs and creating an appropriate business climate.

Agro-processing, for example, is the most popular sector. Today's realities encourage entrepreneurs to focus more on processing products that are easier to export, given the logistical challenges, and the added value of such products is higher.

"In the first year of the programme, we have awarded around 500 grants, which we estimate will create around 6,600 jobs. By the end of the year, we plan to award another 500 grants, which will create more than 6,000 jobs across Ukraine. The number of jobs to be created in the de-occupied territories will depend on the extent to which businesses from these regions actively participate in the programme," the Deputy Minister added.

Businesses can apply for a grant through the Diia portal. In particular, the Government's eRobota project includes grant programmes aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship and job creation. These include micro-grants for starting or developing your own business, grants for setting up and developing processing businesses, planting gardens and vineyards, and greenhouse cultivation. Both existing entrepreneurs and people with no business experience can apply for a grant.
