In August 2022, the volume of Ukrainian exports increased by 25% and amounted to 7.29 million tons. In monetary terms, exporters received $3.36 billion, which is $411 million more than in July.
The increase in exports is connected with the partial unblocking of the ports of Greater Odesa. This made it possible to significantly increase the volume of export of Ukrainian goods. As a result, transportation by sea transport increased by 85% and amounted to almost 2.9 million tons. Ukraine exported more than 3 million tons of goods by rail, 1.36 million tons by road.
At the same time, exporters receive the largest revenue from goods exported by road - $1.48 billion, sea cargo - $995 million, and rail cargo - $788 million.
“Ukraine is betting on the export model of economic growth. Before the full-scale war, our exports formed 35% of GDP (75% of which were raw materials). The goal of the Government and the Ministry of Economy is to increase it to more than 50%. 75% of exports should be formed of finished goods and services. For this, in particular, we launched a program of grants for the creation of processing enterprises. The state will also partially compensate the rate for export credits, which are taken for a period of 2-12 years and amount to no more than 85% of the amount of the foreign economic contract. This is how we will help exporters enter foreign markets and be competitive there. As a result, we will have a constant increase in the amount of foreign exchange earnings, which serves as a guarantee of macroeconomic stability in the country”, the First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko said.
The leaders in terms of export value in August were:
It is important that confectionery processing products show stable upward dynamics: bakery +19.4%, sugar +9.1%, chocolate +25%.
We will remind that in July Ukrainian exporters delivered 2.7 million tons of grain, which is almost three times more than in April.
