Ukraine to Collaborate with Made in Britain to Promote Ukrainian Manufacturers on Global Markets
16.12.2024 | 10:45 | Section for Public and Mass Media RelationsThe British manufacturers’ association Made in Britain has expressed support for the Made in Ukraine program, which focuses on bolstering Ukrainian manufacturers. Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Yuliia Svyrydenko, and Made in Britain representative George Middleton signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the manufacturing sector.
As part of the collaboration, Made in Britain will share its expertise and explore ways to strengthen partnerships between Ukrainian and British businesses. Experts from MAP UK & International, a company specializing in international trade consultancy and global supply chain management, will also join these efforts.
"From the earliest days of the full-scale war, the United Kingdom has actively supported Ukraine. This year, we signed a Free Trade Agreement that eliminates tariffs and quotas in bilateral trade until 2029. Now we are entering a new phase of cooperation. The agreement with Made in Britain will enhance the representation of Ukrainian goods on the British market and improve export opportunities for British businesses. This is a significant boost for the Made in Ukraine program launched this year by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This is the first agreement with a similar foreign organization, aiming to open new markets for Ukrainian producers and promote the export of Ukrainian-made goods," Yuliia Svyrydenko stated.
Made in Britain is an independent industry association of British manufacturers, representing over 2,100 companies, 95% of which are small and medium-sized enterprises. The organization promotes British-made goods by licensing the official Made in Britain quality mark, which helps consumers and businesses identify products of British origin.
"The global supply chain shocks have significantly increased consumer attention to local goods. Choosing high-quality products made by reliable manufacturers has become a central business concept in the UK and across Europe. We are delighted to collaborate with the Made in Ukraine team and ensure that buyers and consumers can access quality products," said John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain.
"I am pleased to meet with Ms. Svyrydenko and support the Made in Ukraine initiative. We understand the importance of manufacturing for a country’s economy, its citizens, and the resilience of critical national infrastructure. We see this in the UK through our international trade and participation in supply chains worldwide. We look forward to fostering ties between Ukrainian and British businesses starting next year," added George Middleton, Adviser at Made in Britain.
Background
The Made in Ukraine policy, initiated by the President of Ukraine, aims to attract investments for the development of Ukrainian manufacturers, increase production of high-value-added goods, and stimulate demand for Ukrainian products. Supporting manufacturers means expanding production, ensuring a stable economy, creating new jobs, generating budget revenues, and supporting Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
