WE Finance Code: Financial institutions are invited to join the founding cohort of signatories

The Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine reminds financial institutions of the opportunity to join the global WE Finance Code initiative, implemented with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, the National Bank of Ukraine, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The initiative aims to expand access to finance for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) led by women and to promote the development of an inclusive financial ecosystem in Ukraine.
In the context of the ongoing war, the role of women in entrepreneurship is significantly increasing: 61% of newly registered sole proprietors in Ukraine are women, and 34% of companies are led by women. This represents substantial economic potential that requires support from the financial sector.
By joining the WE Finance Code, financial institutions make a voluntary pledge around three pillars:
• Leadership — appointing responsible persons to drive this agenda
• Data — collecting and reporting sex-disaggregated data
• Action — expanding and introducing measures that will support women entrepreneurs
Institutions wishing to join the founding cohort are encouraged to sign before the 30th April 2026.
To participate, institutions are required to:
• sign a Letter of Intent
