Protection of consumer rights is one of the priorities of the Government and the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The main regulatory legal act that governs relations between consumers and producers and sellers of goods, contractors and service providers, establishes the rights of consumers, as well as defines the mechanism of their protection and the basis of the implementation of state policy in the field of consumer rights protection is the Law of Ukraine “On Protection of Consumer Rights”.

*The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection is the central executive authority which implements state policy in the field of state control over compliance with legislation on the protection of consumer rights (in accordance with the Regulation on the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 667 dated 2 September 2015).

Every consumer has the right to apply to the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection for the protection of consumer rights both on paper (send a complaint by mail to the address: 1 B. Hrinchenka Street, 01001, Kyiv), and electronically.

At the same time, during the period of martial law introduced by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 64 dated 24 February 2022, planned and unplanned measures of state supervision (control) and state market supervision are suspended (resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 303 dated 13 March 2022).

**If consumers go to court, they are exempted from paying court fees for lawsuits related to the violation of their rights. Moreover, upon satisfaction of the consumer’s claims, the court simultaneously resolves the issue of compensation for moral (non-property) damage.
