On 11 April, Deputy Ministers of Ukraine Oleksandr Hryban and Nadiia Bihun met with representatives of the Danish Ministry of Business to discuss financial support instruments for the Ukrainian economy through concessional lending programmes, as well as investment attraction and the reconstruction of Ukraine's damaged infrastructure. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, Mykolaiv Oblast Council, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Denmark, and the Denmark's Export and Investment Fund (EIFO).

"We are pleased to welcome the Danish Government, which is willing to join the reconstruction and recovery of Ukraine using instruments such as financial loan guarantee programmes. Denmark has become one of the largest sponsors of Ukraine in terms of financial assistance, whose support has had a positive impact on the Ukrainian economy, given the consequences of the war. We believe that business is the driver of change, so the Ministry of Economy cooperates with international organisations and investment agencies to mobilise international capital into the Ukrainian private sector," said Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksandr Hryban.

The Deputy Minister stressed that Ukraine counts on the support of the Kingdom of Denmark in the issue of demining, in particular, the use of Danish technologies and the involvement of demining operators. Rapid demining of the territories will ensure the functioning of the Ukrainian agricultural sector and help to realise the country's export potential.

Representatives of the Ministry of Economy also thanked the Danish side for the initiative to restore Mykolaiv Oblast. The region needs to quickly restore the housing stock, educational and medical infrastructure, and housing and communal services destroyed during the war. Thanks to the Danish public-private partnership, projects are being implemented in the region using Danish technologies, such as green transition, water supply, navigation, transport, infrastructure, etc.

During the meeting, the parties focused on finding a model of financial support that Denmark can provide to Ukraine for further recovery. In particular, the parties discussed a programme of financial guarantees for loans supported by the Denmark’s Export and Investment Fund (EIFO) and grants for the public sector. Investments in the private sector are also discussed.

In particular, the parties agreed to continue working on new support programmes and present the outcomes during the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to the Kingdom of Denmark.
