Prozorro.Sale to become the main platform for the sale of seized russian assets – Yuliia Svyrydenko
04.07.2023 | 16:28 | Section for Public and Mass Media RelationsSanctioned russian assets in Ukraine will be sold at Prozorro.Sale online auctions, and the funds will be used to overcome the consequences of russian aggression and to restore the economy.
This was stated by First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko at the event “Five years of small-scale privatization reform: from the first auction to UAH 14 billion in budgets”.
“Prozorro.Sale will become the main platform for the sale of seized russian assets. This is an extremely important area of development of the small-scale privatization reform. It is not only about money but also about the responsibility that should be borne by russian businesses that financed the crimes committed by the russian army in Ukraine,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
Yuliia Svyrydenko also said that the Ukrainian Government was working on implementing large-scale privatization.
According to the Minister of Economy, the reform of small-scale privatization is extremely relevant and necessary during a full-scale war. This is evidenced by the interest of businesses in online auctions on Prozorro.Sale. During the full-scale war alone, Ukraine earned UAH 2.8 billion from the sale of small-scale privatization assets.
In total, UAH 14 billion has been added to the budgets of various levels during the five years of reform. Almost 5,000 unused state-owned and municipal facilities have been sold. In their places, entrepreneurs have opened new facilities such as hotels, cafes and production facilities, creating jobs and paying taxes.
Yuliia Svyrydenko also said that one of the first russian assets to be sold through Prozorro.Sale could be the well-known Ocean Plaza shopping centre in Kyiv. Until recently, two-thirds of its shares were owned by russian oligarchs, in particular Arkady Rotenberg and his son Igor. The Government transferred them to the State Property Fund in early June.
The State Property Fund has already re-registered corporate rights with the state. Experts are now making an inventory and updating the statutory documents.
