First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Masashi Nakagome. The main topics discussed were accelerating humanitarian demining, restoring the country and strengthening economic cooperation.

“We are grateful to Japan for its financial, technical and advisory assistance, in particular in the areas of energy and food security. Together we are working to accelerate humanitarian demining by training deminers and building the capacity of local operators. This is an important step for security and recovery,” Yuliia Svyrydenko said.

According to her, the 9th joint meeting of the Coordinating Council for Economic Cooperation with Japan and the Keidanren Committee on Ukraine scheduled for December will be an important step in strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the parties discussed preparations for the event, as well as business forums in Tokyo and Osaka organised by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) within the framework of the ninth joint meeting. Attention will be focused on attracting Japanese business to Ukraine’s recovery projects, localising production, introducing innovative technologies and expanding investment.

The parties also discussed Ukraine’s participation in Expo 2025 in Osaka in April 2025. Japan has provided Ukraine with a free pavilion, helping to promote the country in the international arena.

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Economy of Ukraine expressed her gratitude for Japan’s readiness to host the Ukraine Mine Action Conference next year. According to Yuliia Svyrydenko, Ukraine hopes that the Conference will help Ukraine and its allies strengthen partnership cooperation in the field of humanitarian demining.
