While preparations for the accession negotiations are underway and the negotiations will be conducted, Ukraine and the EU should use the progress in the adaptation of legislation to adopt joint decisions that improve market access and ensure economic convergence between Ukraine and the EU. The government intensified economic activity deregulation and business climate improvement. In 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers plans to simplify or improve about 40 procedures and conditions for doing business. A relevant action plan, whose implementation will allow to significantly simplify doing business in Ukraine, was approved at the Government meeting on 31 January 2023. -

The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is ready to continue supporting the private sector in Ukraine. The Corporation announced its intention to mobilize USD 250 million this year for Ukrainian banks to increase lending to small and medium-sized businesses. This as well as the deepening of cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and USAID in the framework of the Advantage Ukraine investment initiative was discussed during a meeting in Kyiv between First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko and DFC Chief Executive Officer Scott Nathan. -

Effective 30 January, Ukrainians will be able to exchange 5 old incandescent lamps for the same quantity of LED lamps. The all-Ukrainian program, which aims to reduce the load on the power grid by replacing incandescent light bulbs with energy-saving LED lamps in Ukrainian homes, was initiated at the end of 2022 by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and supported by President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. The mass replacement of old lamps with energy-saving ones will reduce electricity consumption by 7-10% during peak times in the Ukrainian power grid.
