Competent and experienced are required: The Ministry of economics will consider candidates for the supervisory board of the center for humanitarian demining

The government continues its work on developing the organizational infrastructure of humanitarian demining. Orders from the Director of the Economic and Financial Department of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine have approved the Regulations on the Humanitarian Demining Center, a budget institution that will coordinate the clearance of territory in Ukraine, as well as the Regulations on the Supervisory Board of the Center.

"This decision allows us to announce the formation of the Supervisory Board of the Center. Anyone with the relevant competencies, experience, and desire to contribute to the cause of humanitarian demining in Ukraine can contact the Ministry of Economy. We will consider all proposals and form a professional and efficient Supervisory Board," explained the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko.

According to the Regulations, the Center is a non-profit budget institution financed by the state budget and other lawful sources. The main tasks of the Center include collecting and analyzing information, strategic planning, coordination of the demining process, and international cooperation in the field of humanitarian demining.

Among the Center's responsibilities are:

We are participating in the planning of demining activities and international cooperation.

We are facilitating the implementation of a unified system for training and enhancing the qualifications of personnel involved in demining.

We are participating in the process of collecting data on incidents involving explosive objects among the civilian population and informing the public about the risks associated with flammable objects.

Establishing electronic information exchange with the State Land Cadastre regarding the information on land plots contaminated with or cleared of explosive objects and more.

The Center's current activities are managed by a Director appointed and dismissed by the State Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine upon the proposal of the Supervisory Board of the Center.

The composition of the Supervisory Board, which consists of no more than 7 members, is approved by the State Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine based on proposals from the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Economy. The Supervisory Board is appointed for a term of three years.

Candidates for membership in the Supervisory Board of the Humanitarian Demining Center must meet the following requirements:

Possess the skills, necessary competencies, experience, and other personal characteristics required for the proper performance of the duties of a Supervisory Board member, corresponding to the activities of the Humanitarian Demining Center.

  • Demonstrate integrity, impartiality, and impeccable professional reputation.
  • Show consistent support for Ukraine.
  • Have no outstanding criminal convictions.
