A partial refund of excise duty on fuel should not affect the price of the resource – Denys Kudin
17.08.2022 | 17:12

The refund of excise duty on fuel is of paramount importance for filling the state road fund and accelerating the restoration of the infrastructure damaged by the occupiers. At the same time, this decision should not affect the cost of fuel for citizens.

This was announced by Denys Kudin, First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, on the air of the Pershyi TV channel during the all-Ukrainian United News telethon.

“Excise duty is the main mechanism for filling the road fund. The enemy is destroying our infrastructure, namely roads and bridges which are very necessary for the economy. Therefore, a source for their repair is needed. And this source is the road fund. A partial refund of the excise duty will allow the Government to continue the restoration of both roads and bridges. We hope that the introduction of the excise duty will not have a negative impact on citizens. In fact, people should not feel it,” emphasized Denys Kudin.

According to him, there is currently a tendency to a decrease in the cost of petroleum products on world markets. Therefore, the Government is considering a proposal to refund part of the excise duty. An increase in fuel prices due to this decision is not expected.

We remind that at the beginning of the war, the Government developed and the Verkhovna Rada supported a number of proposals to lower the price of fuel for the population. The decision provided for the cancellation of excise duty and VAT reduction from 20% to 7%.
