Nearly 3,000 unemployed involved in “Recovery Army”, – Yuliia Svyrydenko

Almost 3,000 unemployed are involved in performing public works in seven oblasts under the “Recovery Army” project. This was reported by First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko on the air of the National Telethon.

“The Government offers Ukrainians who have lost their jobs but are willing to work on the economic front to take part in the “Recovery Army” program. That is, in the performance of socially useful works arranged in the regions, which allows the unemployed to receive a guaranteed minimum wage. Nearly 3,000 people are already engaged in such works,” Yuliia Svyrydenko said.

It should be noted that today socially useful works are performed in seven oblasts already, namely in Sumy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Donetsk, Poltava, Rivne and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

Most of the unemployed are engaged in:

·         Sumy Oblast – 725 people,

·         Kyiv Oblast – 659 people,

·         Poltava Oblast – 595 people,

·         Donetsk Oblast – 440 people.

In the near future, socially useful works will also be arranged in Volyn and Zhytomyr oblasts.

People get at least UAH 6,700 for performing such works, and they can get more, as the regions have the opportunity to additionally finance the activities from their budgets.

Currently, the state has paid UAH 18.3 million to the unemployed involved in the socially useful works.

The types of these works depend on the needs of a certain region. Most often people are engaged in:

·         debris removal and restoration of residential buildings and premises damaged as a result of hostilities;

·         arrangement and fortification of checkpoints, basements for shelters;

·         clearing of railway tracks and motor roads; 

·         construction of civil defence facilities, strengthening of dams; 

·         procurement of firewood for the military and the population; 

·         unloading and packaging of humanitarian aid; 

social service delivery at the Points of Invincibility.
