14,500 unemployed people in 16 oblasts are involved in the implementation of socially useful works within the framework of the Recovery Army project. This was reported by Tetiana Berezhna, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

The Recovery Army project is already working in 16 regions, while Kherson and Ternopil oblasts have recently joined it. 14,500 unemployed people have been involved in the performance of socially useful works, including almost 11,000 since the beginning of this year. Poltava Oblast remains the leader among regions in this project, where 3,600 unemployed people perform such works. In total, the state has already paid UAH 85 million to the participants of the project for restoration works,” said Tetiana Berezhna. 

The Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine reminded that the types of socially useful works depend on the needs of a specific region. In particular, the unemployed are most often involved in:

• clearing the debris, railway tracks and motor roads, restoring residential buildings damaged as a result of hostilities and their consequences; 
• building protective structures for civil protection and reinforcing dams;
• arranging and reinforcing check points and basements for shelters;                                                       
• harvesting firewood for the military and the population;
• unloading, packaging and delivering humanitarian aid, working in reception centers for internally displaced persons.

The leadership of the regions determines what jobs are needed in the region, informs the Employment Center about this, which offers the unemployed registered with the center to join the performance of such jobs. A fixed-term employment contract is concluded with these people for the period of work. 

Payment for the work performed is at least UAH 6,700 and is higher than the average amount of unemployment benefits that an unemployed person receives while registered.

 Most of the unemployed were involved in the performance of socially useful works in:

• Poltava Oblast – 3,600 people;
• Donetsk Oblast – 1,900 people;
• Kyiv Oblast – 1,800 people;
• Kharkiv Oblast – 1,700 people;
• Chernihiv Oblast – 1,500 people.

As a  reminder, the Recovery Army project was introduced by the Government in the autumn of 2022 to involve people who temporarily lost their jobs in the reconstruction of the country through their performance of socially useful works.
