A decrease in Russia’s export revenues will reduce its ability to finance the war, – Yuliia Svyrydenko in a Sky News interview

First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko during her visit to London became a guest of the Sky News channel, in the studio of which she called on European society to help our country overcome the energy crisis and punish Russia more decisively for the crimes it is committing in the territory of Ukraine.

“The support by the United Kingdom is currently unprecedented. And we hope that it will also be directed to the rapid recovery of Ukraine and reconstruction of its economy. A full-scale war in the territory of Europe must be strongly condemned by the world. The war is causing damage to both the economy of Ukraine and its people. That is why we insist on the need to expand sanctions against Russia. This should speed up our victory,” Yuliia Svyrydenko said.

Further Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy system may worsen the economic situation:

“The Ukrainian economy will show a drop of at least 30% by the end of the year. This excludes the consequences of the last massive attack on Ukraine. We forecast that the drop may be even greater as the attacks may continue. In this case, production will be reduced,” Yuliia Svyrydenko noted.

According to the Minister of Economy, the Government is preparing for any scenarios of the development of the situation, the worst of which is the destruction of the energy infrastructure and disconnection of the energy system. To overcome this situation, Ukraine needs support:

“Ukrainian people need transformers and generators to have alternative sources of energy as well as Starlink satellite communication terminals to be able to get information in conditions of no service. Therefore, we call for help in these matters.”

Ukraine also insists on strengthening the sanctions pressure on the terrorist state. And it supports the policy of limiting prices for Russian oil – the so-called “price ceiling” of 30-40 per barrel – as a possible compromise at this stage in terms of a full embargo on the energy carrier.

“It is very important for us to reduce Russia’s export earnings, which in turn will reduce its ability to finance the war. We also need to expand sanctions and speed up their implementation. After all, there is a certain time between the adoption of sanctions and their implementation in practice. But we don’t have that time to wait. We defend our land and the right of our children to a normal childhood. I believe that your politicians are also able to influence this,” Yuliia Svyrydenko addressed the British society.

We remind you that Ukraine and Western partners are constantly working on synchronizing sanctions against the Russian Federation.
