The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) are deepening cooperation in the areas of investment attraction, support for Ukrainian entrepreneurship and humanitarian demining. This was discussed during a meeting between Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine, and Sanna Marin, former Prime Minister of Finland and now Strategic Counsellor for political leadership reform programmes at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI).

“I would like to thank my colleagues from the Tony Blair Institute for a fruitful meeting. We discussed a number of pressing issues, including humanitarian demining. This is an extremely important process for us, as many Ukrainian agricultural lands remain mined, which in turn does not allow us to fully develop the agricultural industry and, accordingly, increase Ukraine’s overall GDP. We agreed with our British colleagues that they would help Ukraine with the use of modern solutions and technologies in the field of humanitarian demining and help open a full-fledged demining market,” Yuliia Svyrydenko said.

The parties also discussed tools and opportunities to increase investment in the Ukrainian economy.

“One of the main tasks of the Government is to build a self-sufficient economy. To do this, we need to support entrepreneurs who create added value and new jobs. That is why we have developed ‘Made in Ukraine’ state programme, which prioritises Ukrainian producers for the national economy. In order to develop Ukrainian business, we need to attract investment to Ukraine, expand insurance instruments against war risks, and increase opportunities for Ukrainian exports. We have agreed that the Tony Blair Institute will help the Government to optimise and consolidate all investment promotion platforms and government business support programmes,” Yuliia Svyrydenko continued.

The parties discussed the prospects of transition to a cashless economy, promising sectors for investment, implementation of future joint projects and the possibility of greater involvement of British investors in the reconstruction of our country. They also touched upon gender policy in the labour market and the creation of economic incentives for Ukrainians to return home.
