Sweden is ready to provide trade and investment guarantees to companies cooperating with Ukraine
03.10.2023 | 13:00 | Directorate for relations with state bodies and public.

The Government of Sweden proposes allocating 333 million Swedish kronor for special export credit guarantees for companies trading with Ukraine. This initiative has been included in the proposed budget for 2024.

These guarantees will be administered by the Swedish Export Credit Agency and will apply to exports of Swedish goods to Ukrainian importers. Policies will be issued starting from 2024 for the export of goods classified as development aid, and they will be valid for transactions for a maximum of three years, but no later than the end of 2026.

For Ukrainian and Swedish companies, the guarantees offered by the Swedish Export Credit Agency represent more secure conditions for delivering essential goods to Ukraine, protection of investments, and compensation in case of force majeure. This means that businesses won't have to bear all the risks individually in their agreements with Ukraine, and Swedish companies will be more inclined to enter the Ukrainian market.

"The fact that Sweden will also provide insurance against war risks in Ukraine from next year sends a significant signal that the investment insurance market in our country is starting to function despite security challenges. We are grateful to the Swedish Government and hope that this decision will be supported by the Riksdag," said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.
