“The updated Agreement with North Macedonia is the next step to greater integration of Ukrainian manufacturers in the European and trans-regional added value chains and transition of Ukraine to export-oriented economy with high added value. From now on, the market of North Macedonia is open for greater number of groups of Ukrainian agricultural products. Moreover, Ukrainian manufacturers of industrial products will be able to use components produced in Macedonia for products that will be sold in the EU. It is also important that due to the Regional Convention on Pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin (Pan-Euro-Med) the markets of Ukraine and Macedonia integrate with markets of the EU and other countries”, noted Taras Kachka.

According to the updated Agreement, an access to the market of North Macedonia will be open for cattle and pork meat, chicken meat and fresh, chilled and frozen sub-products, milk, cream and butter, barley, maize, oil, sugar, confectionery products, jams. The market is also open for mineral water, vinegar, walnut, cereals from grain crops, malt extracts, finished products on the basis of essences and concentrates of coffee, ice cream, food mixtures or products of animal or vegetable fats, canned meat products, etc.

The Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of North Macedonia and Ukraine was signed in 2001.

In 2021, the Ukrainian export of goods to North Macedonia amounted to $120.1 million, import – $22.2 million. For 9 months of 2022, export amounted to $63.7 million, import – $21.7 million.
