Own business: more than 16,000 Ukrainians will receive microgrants from the state for business development worth UAH 3.8 billion

Since the launch of the "Own Business" programme, more than 16,000 Ukrainians have already become winners and will receive UAH 3.8 billion to start or develop their businesses. The winners of this year's seventh wave of the programme are 526 Ukrainians who will receive UAH 127 million to develop their businesses. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetyana Berezhna. 

"More than 16,000 Ukrainians have won the "Own Business" programme and will receive microgrants from the state to start or scale up their businesses for a total of UAH 3.8 billion. Most of them are entrepreneurs who take a grant to invest in the development of their business, increase the volume of products or services, and develop new activities. And at the same time, they create new jobs. In total, the programme winners will create more than 35,000 new jobs in all regions of the country," said Tetyana Berezhna. 

Among the recipients of the seventh wave of microgrants, 50% are women, 41% are men and 9% are legal entities. More than 75% of them have higher education. Most grantees are from Lviv region (70 people), Ivano-Frankivsk region (60 people), Kyiv region (42 people) and Kyiv city (39 people). The overwhelming majority of grantees plan to spend the microgrant funds on the purchase of equipment necessary for running their business. 

The most popular areas in which the winners of the seventh wave will work include:

  • wholesale and retail trade, vehicle repair 169 persons;
  • temporary accommodation and catering 94 persons;
  • processing industry 69 persons.

As a reminder, Ukrainians can receive a microgrant from UAH 50 to 250 thousand under the "Own Business" grant programme. The funds can be used to purchase or lease equipment, purchase raw materials and supplies, and rent premises. Both active entrepreneurs and a person with no experience of such activities can receive a microgrant. A prerequisite for granting funds is the creation of 1-2 jobs, depending on the amount of the grant.

The Government's with no experience of such activities eRobota" ("eWork") project includes grant programmes aimed at stimulating entrepreneurship and job creation. In particular, these are microgrant programmes for starting or developing your own business, grants for veterans and their spouses, grants for the creation and development of processing enterprises, planting gardens and viticulture, greenhouse farming. Applications for all areas of the "eRobota" programme are submitted through the "Diya" portal.
