TechCrunch Disrupt 2022 is one of the most renowned startup events in the world. This year's conference takes place in San Francisco from 18 to 20 October.

Ukrainian Startup Pavilion is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, supported by the USAID Competitive Economy Program Ukraine, the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco, the Ukrainian Startup Fund, and the NGO Ukrainian Bridge.

Every year the event is attended by up to 10,000 participants from 125 countries – startup owners, investors, potential customers, government officials. This is a good opportunity to learn industry news, gain new knowledge and celebrate achievements in this field. 

"The development of innovations and attraction of investments, including in startups, is one of the Government's priorities. Indeed, in the face of the challenges posed by the war, investments are the basis for the recovery and further development of the economy. We are working, on the one hand, to encourage business activity and simplify the regulatory environment in the country, and on the other hand, to guarantee the safety and insurance of investments in wartime and post-war times,” said Deputy Minister of Economy Oleksandr Hryban, who took part in a panel discussion on the investment climate and attractiveness of Ukraine as part of the preparations for TechCrunch Disrupt 2022.

According to preliminary estimates of the Ministry of Economy, the investment potential of the innovation and technology industry is about $11 billion. In particular, the IT sector suffered the least losses during the war: it retained 95% of contracts and significantly increased export revenues.

"It is extremely important to present the Ukrainian startup ecosystem to the world at one of the most important technological events, especially in wartime. Our task is to show the international community that despite all the challenges, the Ukrainian tech industry retains its resilience, efficiency and investment potential,” explained Olesia Zaluska, Chief of Party at USAID Competitive Economy Program Ukraine

In San Francisco, 10 startups from our country are represented at the TechCrunch Startup Alley stand:

• elKYC – a solution for real-time verification of business customers;
• Nanit Robotics — educational robot that has an innovative approach to identify creative and technical abilities of children;
• QAI – game testing platform based on machine learning;
• Harmix – smart service that automatically selects music for video.
• Cardiomo – medical wearable technology for real-time monitoring of heart health;
• Shortage — international marketplace of humanitarian goods for Ukraine.
• Howly — a platform where people can get 24/7 online consultations from various experts;
• Numo ADHD — educational application for children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder;
• Zeeon — metaverse for public communication and coworking;
• Vanongo — a logistics platform that helps deliver humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

"Ukrainian innovativeness, determination to create new things and the ability to generate non-standard solutions are of great interest to global business. We see this through the first results of the international platform for attracting investment in our economy – Advantage Ukraine. So, further establishment of cooperation between foreign investors and the Ukrainian Startup Fund is an important step in this direction,” added Oleksandr Hryban. 

As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved draft amendments to the legislation aimed at increasing the inflow of significant investments into the economy. The Government adopted the relevant draft amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On State Support of Investment Projects with Significant Investments in Ukraine" at a meeting on 18 October.
