Supporting Ukraine's recovery, business insurance, further European integration of Ukraine, the Peace Formula and deepening economic cooperation were the topics discussed by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic João Gomes Cravinho on October 2. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Portugal to Ukraine António Vasco Alves Mashado.
"The Government is working to create a market for insurance against military and political risks in Ukraine so that international businesses feel protected and invest in the Ukrainian economy. We are currently cooperating with DFC, MIGA, export credit agencies of a number of countries and hope that Portugal will join this initiative," the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, João Gomes Cravinho, noted that the Government of Portugal was interested in participating in projects to insure its business, in particular, with the involvement of the Export Credit Agency of Portugal. Portugal also supports Ukraine's integration into the EU and its Euro-Atlantic integration.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the principles of the Peace Formula, in particular, food, energy and environmental security, which Portugal is ready to join. According to Yuliia Svyrydenko, humanitarian demining in Ukraine is also part of environmental safety, so Ukraine needs broad support from international partners in this area.
The parties also agreed to hold a series of intergovernmental events during the 4th quarter of 2023 to identify specific areas of bilateral cooperation aimed at supporting Ukraine and ensuring sustainable post-war recovery.
