The Ministry of Economy has already formulated a comprehensive strategy for information management in humanitarian demining in Ukraine, employing a data-driven approach. The plan's implementation will be facilitated with the assistance of Palantir, an American technology company that specializes in big data analytics.
The Ministry of Economy's team showcased a demo version of this exceptional project during the First International Donor Conference on Humanitarian Demining in Ukraine held in Zagreb on 11-12 October 2023.
"Using artificial intelligence, we will harness big data for informed decision-making, priority setting, and gaining insights into the necessary resources to expedite the demining of Ukrainian territories. This system will be able to analyse data on potentially mined areas, combine it with data from additional sources, such as social or critical infrastructure, and formulate options for higher-priority demining routes," said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
She explained that the implementation of this information system will enable timely scrutiny of decisions and activities related to humanitarian demining. It will allow for adjustments, the refinement of land-clearing methodologies, and overall process enhancement and acceleration.
The Ministry of Economy's strategic information management approach will also improve the prioritization of land demining and foster collaboration with the innovation-driven humanitarian demining expert community. With an analytical dashboard and an interactive assistant providing real-time data for managerial decision-making, all entities involved in demining activities will operate more efficiently in this domain.
