Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Andrii Teliupa and Deputy to the Director General and Managing Director of the Directorate of Corporate Services and Operations of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Yuko Yasunaga discussed the implementation status of a major Ukrainian-Japanese project with a budget of USD 188 million, aimed at green industrial recovery of Ukraine.
«UNIDO's efforts in promoting green industrial recovery in Ukraine open new opportunities for Ukrainian enterprises. Through this initiative, our businesses will gain access to advanced Japanese technologies and innovative solutions. This will enable production modernization and enhance the competitiveness of Ukrainian industry in the global market», said Andrii Teliupa.
Following the first phase of the project, which ran from June to August 2024, a considerable number of technology proposals from Japanese companies have been selected for further feasibility studies. The proposals cover renewable energy, circular economy, agribusiness, water infrastructure, and digital technologies.
«This project reflects UNIDO's commitment to innovation and sustainability through international partnership. By combining Japanese expertise with Ukrainian industrial potential, we promote technological advancement, capacity building, knowledge exchange, job creation, and investment attraction. These efforts are crucial for laying the foundation for sustainable industrial recovery and long-term economic growth in Ukraine», noted Yuko Yasunaga.
To further develop the project, the Ministry of Economy conducted a survey of Ukrainian businesses. The results have been incorporated into the formation of the next call for project proposals from Japanese companies, which began on November 28 and will continue until January 31, 2025.
The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan. It is part of the UNIDO green industrial recovery programme for Ukraine 2024-2028 and focuses on key economic sectors such as renewable energy, industrial decarbonization and green hydrogen development, circular economy and efficient production, digital transformation and enterprise modernization, as well as agro-industrial complex development.
