"eOselya": Ukrainians received UAH 5 billion in soft loans for housing purchase

єОселя: Українці отримали 5 млрд грн пільгових кредитів на придбання житла

Last week, 188 Ukrainians received housing loans under the "eOselya" Programme for a total of UAH 282 million. Since the start of the Programme, 3,471 families have already taken soft mortgages for almost UAH 5 billion. Nadiia Bihun, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, announced this.

"Since the launch of the “eOselya” Programme, 3,471 Ukrainian families have taken preferential loans for the purchase of housing for a total of almost UAH 5 billion. Most of them – more than 70% – are families of military and security personnel who can take a loan on favourable terms – at a rate of 3%. Just like mrdics, teachers and scientists. Starting from 1 August, all Ukrainians who do not have their own housing or need to improve their living conditions can take a loan under the Programme. The lending rate for them is 7%. We are seeing an increase in demand for these loans – for the second week in a row, 25% of the loans issued were granted at a rate of 7%. In total, banks issued UAH 282 million worth of mortgages to Ukrainians last week," said Nadiia Bihun.

In particular, last week Ukrainians received 188 loans under the "eOselya" Programme, including:

  • 93 military and security personnel, 22 teachers, 22 medics and 3 scientists received loans at a rate of 3%;
  • 45 Ukrainians without their own housing and 3 internally displaced persons received loans at a rate of 7%.

Loans were most often taken to purchase housing on the secondary market (142 loans) and from a developer (46).

Most mortgage loans were taken by residents of:

  • Kyiv oblast – 54;
  • city of Kyiv – 37;
  • Volyn and Odesa oblasts – 11 each;
  • Ivano-Frankivsk oblast – 9.

As a reminder, the affordable lending programme is currently available to both representatives of certain professions and citizens who do not own housing or want to improve its conditions. For contract servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, teachers, medics s and scientists, the preferential rate is 3% per annum. For other categories – combatants, veterans, internally displaced persons, and other citizens – the mortgage rate is 7%.
