Ministry of Economy and Stockholm Environment Institute Agree on Cooperation for Ukraine's Green Economic Transformation
04.07.2025 | 14:30 | Section for Public and Mass Media RelationsOn July 2, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI, Sweden) signed a strategic cooperation memorandum. The document was signed by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Andriy Telyupa and SEI Executive Director Måns Nilsson, with participation from a representative of the Green Transition Office of the Ministry of Economy.
"Signing the memorandum with SEI is a strategic step for Ukraine on the path to economic modernization. We aim not just to rebuild the country, but to make it more resilient, efficient, and aligned with European climate goals. Access to SEI's expertise and analytics will allow us to develop modern solutions that will help attract green investments, integrate innovative approaches, and strengthen Ukraine's contribution to Europe's joint climate efforts. This partnership will serve as a catalyst for long-term sustainable development and open new opportunities for business and the state," noted Andrii Teliupa, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
The memorandum, concluded for three years as part of implementing the National Energy and Climate Plan until 2030, defines key areas of cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and SEI.
The document provides for:
- conducting joint research and analytics for economic decarbonization
- modeling reform scenarios for various sectors
- developing and implementing joint projects in the field of green transformation
- engaging SEI's technical support and expertise
- exchanging data and organizing training events
- facilitating investment attraction to support reforms and development of key industries
"Ukraine demonstrates exceptional determination in its green transformation commitments, even under wartime conditions. Our cooperation will allow us to combine Swedish sustainable development experience with Ukrainian ambitions to build a greener economy. This partnership has strategic importance not only for Ukraine but for all of Europe in the context of achieving climate goals," emphasized SEI Executive Director Måns Nilsson.
"This memorandum will become a platform for implementing ambitious projects that will help Ukraine become a regional leader in sustainable development," commented Head of the Green Transition Office and DiXi Development Director Andriy Kitura.
