Main tasks of the department include:
ensuring the formation and implementation of state policy in the area of tourism and resorts;
ensuring the development and implementation of tourism and resorts development programs in Ukraine;
coordination of interregional cooperation in the area of tourism and resorts;
promoting the development of domestic and inbound tourism;
ensuring the examination of a request for recognition of natural areas as resort;
creation and maintenance of the State Cadastre of Natural Territories of Resorts;
ensuring the assignment of appropriate categories to tourist infrastructure facilities (hotels, other facilities intended to provide accommodation services, catering establishments, resort facilities, etc.);
registration and issuance of a certificate of assignment of relevant category to tourist infrastructure facilities;
ensuring the creation and maintenance of the register of certificates of assignment of relevant categories to tourist infrastructure facilities;
licensing of tour operator activities in accordance with the law;
maintenance of the License Register of tour operators;
implementation of state supervision (control) over observance of the requirements of licensing conditions for conducting the tour operator activities by business entities;
participation in standardization of tourism services and tourist infrastructure facilities (hotels, other facilities intended for providing accommodation services, catering establishments, resort establishments, etc.);
participation in representation of the country in the international tourism organizations and in the international tourism events;
dissemination of information about Ukraine and its tourism opportunities in the international tourism market.
