Main tasks of the department include:
preparing the proposals for the implementation of strategic planning of national security and defense at national level;
preparing the proposals for ensuring the formation and implementation of the state military and industrial policy, development of defense and industrial complex;
coordination of activities on the implementation of state defense orders;
participation in preparing the proposals for the formation and implementation of state policy in the area of space activities;
ensuring the formation of state policy in the area of state export control;
ensuring the formation of state policy in the area of state material reserve;
preparing the conclusions on the economic feasibility and possible amount of allocations from the reserve fund of the state budget;
participation in the implementation of military and technical cooperation;
coordination of offset activity;
ensuring the cooperation between Ukraine and NATO and member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in the area of economic security.
