Yuliia Svyrydenko calls on Chilean leaders to join the first Global Peace Summit

Юлія Свириденко закликала лідерів Чилі доєднатися до першого Глобального саміту миру

The participation of Latin American leaders, in particular Chilean President Gabriel Boric, in the first Global Peace Summit initiated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is extremely important for the restoration of peace. This was discussed during a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile Alberto van Klaveren. The Chilean side assured that the country’s leader would attend the summit.

Global support for President Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula was demonstrated during a public lecture by Yuliia Svyrydenko at the University of Chile, the country’s oldest higher education institution.

“It is a great honor to speak to ambassadors and representatives of almost all diplomatic missions represented in Chile on the topic of restoring sustainable and just peace in Ukraine. First of all, I express my gratitude for the continued support of our partners and the clear position of Chilean President Gabriel Boric that russia has illegally invaded Ukraine and is waging a brutal war of aggression. I invited the country’s leader to join the first Global Peace Summit and received assurances of his attendance. Chile’s involvement in the summit is extremely important for Ukraine, as it is a clear signal to other Latin American countries to become even more actively involved in supporting Ukraine’s struggle for freedom. And at the same time, it is a signal to terrorist russia that the entire civilised democratic world is on the side of Ukraine,” Yuliia Svyrydenko noted.

The event was attended by about 200 participants, mostly diplomats, representatives of academic and political circles. In her speech, Yuliia Svyrydenko noted that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula was the only possible way to ensure a just peace on Ukraine’s terms.

“Ukraine is not ready for ‘peace at any price’ or concessions to the aggressor that would allow for the continuation of the occupation of Ukrainian territories. Only the cessation of terrorist attacks against Ukraine, withdrawal of all aggressor troops from our territory, release of all prisoners and return of deported Ukrainians – both adults and children. These are the key principles underlying the ten points of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula. They will form the basis of discussions at the Global Peace Summit in June,” Yuliia Svyrydenko said.

In addition, during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile, the First Deputy Prime Minister invited the partners to lead the work on one of the points of the Peace Formula and join the coalition for the return of Ukrainian children illegally deported by russia, not only as observers, but as an active member of the coalition.
