eOselia: 10,000 Ukrainian families take out housing loans

єОселя: 10 000 українських родин взяли кредити на придбання житла

10,000 Ukrainian families have received loans for the purchase of housing under the eOselia programme worth almost UAH 16 billion since the programme's launch. About 30% of them were for the first-time housing purchase. This was stated by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy.

"Already 10,000 Ukrainian families have taken out mortgage loans under the eOselia programme. The total amount of loans issued by banks is almost UAH 16 billion. This programme performs not only a social function, helping Ukrainians to purchase housing on affordable terms, but also invests in the development of housing construction and related industries. 30% of the loans taken out by Ukrainians were for a first-time housing purchase – either ready-made from a developer or under construction. Due to the growing demand for housing in the primary market, we support Ukrainian producers who build, manufacture building materials, and create new jobs," said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

In particular, last week Ukrainians received 229 loans for UAH 396 million under the eOselia programme, including:

  • 111 military and security personnel, 17 teachers, 12 doctors and 6 scientists received loans at 3% interest;
  • 64 Ukrainians without their own housing, 4 IDPs and 15 veterans received loans at 7% interest.

Most often, loans were taken out to purchase housing on the secondary market (168 loans), while 61 Ukrainians took out a loan to buy first-time buyers' housing – either ready-made from a developer or in a house under construction.

Most mortgage loans were taken out by residents of:

Kyiv oblast – 61;

Kyiv city – 47;

Odesa oblast – 16;

Lviv, Zakarpattia, Volyn oblasts 12 each.

As a reminder, the affordable lending programme is currently available to representatives of certain professions and citizens who do not own housing or want to improve its conditions. For contract servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, teachers, doctors and scientists, the preferential rate is 3% per annum. For other categories – combatants, veterans, IDPs and other citizens – the mortgage rate is 7%.
